Members get to terms with defibrillator during the First Aid Refresher Course
QFF Mark Potter presenting the Certificate on behalf of the Brigade

Brigade members have been in the classroom over recent weekends undertaking studies to equip them with skills to retain competency as part of Operational Support. The first course was a one-day First Aid refresher provided by St John, re-validation which is required by Fire and Emergency New Zealand for all members every 2 years. Emphasis was on resuscitation and in this, and with other topics, members found several practices have been up-dated since their last classes. Then on another weekend 7 members undertook, and passed, the 2-day traffic management course for level one STMS personnel. The skills learned are considered vital for our team because traffic management in one form or another is carried out at almost every call we attend. Last weekend opportunity was taken to present a Certificate of Appreciation to Z Skyway at Auckland Airport for its donation following the Good in the Hood promotion. Our brigade was represented at three Z stations... donations total $3,700.
