Major Training Exercise
4 November 2014
SO Richard Cuthbert gives his team the safety briefing before training begins

Fifty personnel joined a Brigade practical exercise last night, focusing on salvage and lighting duties. Auckland members were joined by a crew from Silverdale, utilising the Fire Service's unique training facilities at Mt Wellington. Crews were tasked to control torrents of water in the tower block, simulating flooding from sprinklers and run-off from firefighting in fire-damaged buildings. Other exercises were to provide lighting in premises, some treated as a crime scene with limited access in order to protect evidence. Opportunity was also taken to include Command and Control procedures using the Brigade's new radios.
